GCDP and International Geneva – Panel Discussion, 15 Dec 2016

International Geneva and its institutions play an essential role in supporting a public health and human rights approach to drug policy reform, away from prohibition and repression. The Global Commission on Drug Policy, composed of world leaders, has argued such a position since its inception in 2011.
To celebrate the Commission’s recent installation in the International Geneva, a public event was organized with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) at the Graduate Institute, where panelists discussed the pathways to sustain the necessary participation of the Geneva community in the drugs issue, and find the right responses that uphold human rights and dignity.
Speakers included Ms Ruth Dreifuss, former President of Switzerland, and Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General.
